The Popularity of Christmas

Not enough can be said about this larger than life festival without actually experiencing it. Christmas has for long been the favorite staple subject of movies, songs, poetry and literature. So what makes this festival so special? This is the season of hope, opportunities and love. What finds its way into many a favorite family movie drama or a lovely old fuzzy book is the charm and magic of Christmas that seems to have affected the world of at large. Most people all across the world have found such a love and happiness in the season that Christmas has assumed all new dimensions and connotations altogether. It started as a celebration of the birth of Christ every 25th of December and soon materialized into a season of togetherness and joy.

Nowadays people love to do Christmas shopping with stores opening up extremely early and way before December. There are books, music, gift baskets, toys, movies, clothing and accessories on display for people to choose and collect so that they can give their favorite people the best Xmas presents. In fact Christmas is quite incomplete without these myriad gifts and lovely wrappings, crisp cards and red ribbons tying everything up together. Families send out cards and creative people often come up with the best ideas for card making and creativity. It is amazing how the little things and Christmas decorations make all the world of difference in this festival which requires a careful attention to details.

Christmas gifts are not just about expensive cards and toys. Whatever you send out with love is much appreciated. The community feeling is what matters in this season of joy, fruit cakes are baked and candy canes are pictured. Wreaths are hung on the front door and colorful blue and red baubles become a favorite with shoppers. Mistletoes are hung and romances are in the offing, parks are lit up; children behave well and write letters to Santa Claus, turkey is roasted in the oven with grandma’s favorite old secret recipe and life in general seems a lot more pleasant.

December is also the perfect season for Christmas with snow everywhere, and decorations hung up, lights blinking in the distance, a chill in the air when hot chocolate and pecan pies become a favorite staple. Christmas greetings are all around and you can just take your child to the nearby store and let him sit on Santa’s lap and ask for his wish to come true. It is this feeling of bliss and magic that makes this season extremely special. It is also a season for sharing so make it a little special for people who cannot afford to if you have enough to give. Make sure you spend time with your family and do all the fun things you promised them the entire year round. Sit down for a hearty meal and stay up late for family conversations, just to wake up in the morning to unwrap all the lovely gifts.

Tis is the Season to be Jolly

Yes, ‘tis the season to be jolly indeed. Christmas is round the corner, it’s time for Xmas, it’s time for all the Christmas shopping, to enjoy the Christmas gifts, and to welcome in Santa Claus. You can go to the mall, sit on Santa Clause’s lap, and tell him what you want for Christmas. Of course, there are also Christmas trees and Christmas decorations to look into, so remember that with a little thought and dedication, you can make this a Christmas season to remember.

A good idea to bring in the spirit of Christmas is to have something sweet about the house. For instance, you can have a bowl of fresh fruit on the center-table, or even have a plateful of holiday cookies put out just before guests arrive. You can also bake little loaves or small cakes, wrap them nicely, and put them in a holiday basket, and hang them near your gate. If you don’t feel comfortable with strangers taking your confectionery, you can even gift them to people who come over during this time. Another good suggestion is to have a goodie-box filled with candy, and share them with guests, friends and family, and loved ones.

Remember that when it comes to Christmas decorations, the possibilities are endless. For instance, you can make really simple arrangements on your front door, or your back door, or even on your bathroom sink. The trick is to play around and experiment, then you will realize what looks good with what. Basically anything goes, the idea is to be unique and make your home look different from everyone else’s. For instance, you can make a small arrangement of pinecones in a clear glass bowl, and keep it on your mantelpiece. You can also gather together some sprigs of holiday greens, and hang them around the house. Don’t forget the mistletoe and the poinsettia! Ribbons also add a pretty touch, and of course, you also have the option of glitter, which always adds sparkle and shine to everything that it touches.

We also suggest sprinkling some artificial snow about the house, and near your Christmas tree. Now you know that artificial snow is available in cans, but just in case you don’t find that, you can always use cotton – it looks pretty much the same, and it’s also cost-effective. When it comes to the Christmas tree itself, make sure to decorate it well, it’s perhaps one of the most important parts of the festive season. Get nice ornaments, put a pretty fairy or a star right at the top, and hang baubles, balls, and angels from the ends of the branches. Finally, put all the presents at the bottom of the tree.

Finally, a great way to celebrate this season is to be together with your family. So invite your parents, brothers and sisters, and your cousins over for the Christmas lunch – go through the rituals of prayer and turkey-carving, and you will see that Christmas is a whole lot more fun!
